The Sony BRC-AM7 4K60 PTZ Camera with AI Auto-Framing is a professional production camera designed for broadcast, live events, sports, houses of worship, corporate productions, education, and multicamera environments. Combining a large 1.0"-type Exmor RS image sensor with approximately 14 million effective pixels and Sony's BIONZ XR image-processing engine, the BRC-AM7 delivers detailed UHD 4K60 imagery with low noise and lifelike reproduction of textures and materials.
Built-in AI analytics provide sophisticated PTZ Auto Framing and subject tracking, allowing the camera to automatically follow and frame moving subjects while maintaining accurate focus.
UHD 4K60 Imaging
The BRC-AM7 combines its 1.0"-type Exmor RS sensor and BIONZ XR processor to produce high-resolution video with excellent detail, low noise, and natural image reproduction.
Support for UHD 4K video at up to 60 fps makes the camera suitable for professional productions where both image quality and smooth motion reproduction are essential.
Built-In AI PTZ Auto Framing
Advanced AI analytics enable the BRC-AM7 to recognize human subjects and automatically maintain appropriate framing as they move.
The system analyzes characteristics including:
- Human pose
- Head position
- Facial information
- Clothing
- Subject movement
The camera can then automatically coordinate pan, tilt, and zoom movements to follow the selected subject with smooth, natural-looking framing.
This can reduce the number of dedicated camera operators required for multicamera productions, sporting events, performances, presentations, and other live productions.
Advanced Subject Tracking & Autofocus
The Exmor RS image sensor incorporates focal-plane phase-detection autofocus across the imaging area, allowing the camera to quickly and accurately focus on fast-moving subjects.
Working together with PTZ Auto Framing, the autofocus system helps maintain both framing and precise focus while a subject moves around a stage, court, presentation area, or other environment.
20x Optical Zoom
The integrated lens provides a powerful 20x optical zoom with a 24-480mm full-frame equivalent focal-length range.
Sony's Clear Image Zoom further extends the camera's reach:
- 20x optical zoom: 24-480mm equivalent
- 30x zoom in UHD 4K: Up to approximately 720mm equivalent
- 40x zoom in 1080p: Up to approximately 940mm equivalent
This extensive range allows a single camera to capture everything from wide establishing shots to detailed close-ups of distant subjects.
Electronic Variable ND Filter
The BRC-AM7 incorporates a built-in electronic variable ND filter with seamless adjustment from 1/4 to 1/128 ND.
In automatic exposure mode, the camera can adjust ND strength as lighting conditions change, helping maintain proper exposure without unnecessarily changing iris, shutter speed, gain, or the desired depth of field.
This is particularly valuable for stage productions, sports, and live events where lighting conditions may change rapidly.
Sony Color & Production Integration
Support for professional Sony imaging profiles helps the BRC-AM7 integrate with existing Sony production environments.
Supported options include:
- ITU709 / 709tone
- S-Cinetone
- S-Log3
Compatibility with S700PTP, free-d, and additional professional protocols further expands integration with production, camera-control, and tracking systems.
Professional Video Connectivity
The BRC-AM7 provides extensive connectivity for professional broadcast and AV workflows.
Video connectivity includes:
- 12G-SDI primary output
- 3G-SDI monitoring output
- HDMI
- Optical-fiber 12G-SDI via SFP
- IP/network connectivity
This flexibility makes the camera suitable for conventional SDI-based production as well as modern network and fiber-based installations.

PoE++ can simplify installation by providing power through compatible network infrastructure where dedicated power wiring is impractical.
